On the 31st of March, The Guardian recognised Jennifer Obayuwana, Executive Director of Polo Limited, as one of the Seven Wonder Women in the 2026 edition of the Guardian Woman Festival, honouring her in the category of Women in the Business of Legacy. The award places her among a distinguished group of women celebrated for their impact across leadership, innovation, sustainability, hospitality, and legacy-building, and it reflects the growing recognition of the role she continues to play in sustaining and expanding the Polo brand.

Jennifer's recognition is especially significant because it speaks to the depth of her contribution to Polo Limited, where she is responsible for profitability, strategic leadership, and daily operations. The Guardian described her as a gemologist, watch specialist, and collector of objet d'art, while also noting that she has spent more than two decades working across different capacities within the family business. Over that period, she has helped grow Polo across several verticals and, in 2012, co-founded Polo Avenue, which has since become a notable fashion retail destination with a presence in Nigeria and Dubai.
Her professional journey has consistently reflected a balance of luxury expertise, business discipline, and purpose-driven leadership. BusinessDay has previously described her as someone who believes that to lead is to serve, noting her progression within Polo Luxury Group and her role in advancing the company's position as a major luxury retailer in Nigeria. The same profile highlighted that Polo's portfolio includes globally respected watch and jewellery brands, underscoring the scale of the business she helps lead.

Beyond business, Jennifer has also built a reputation as a woman who uses influence with intention. The Guardian reported that she chairs Women Who Conquer, a non-profit initiative focused on improving the lives of rural women across Nigeria. It also noted her academic and professional development, including studies at The American University of Paris, Franklin University in Switzerland, and Harvard Business School, alongside other training at institutions such as INSEAD, Columbia Business School, IMD, Lagos Business School, Wharton, Cranfield, and the Gemological Institute of America. Taken together, this award is not only a celebration of a successful executive, but also of a woman whose work continues to shape legacy, leadership, and the future of luxury in Nigeria.
