In addition to being a successful luxury company, Polo is known for its philanthropic endeavors and initiatives that improve the social and economic development of the society. For example, Polo’s initiative to promote arts by working with local artists to showcase their work at local galleries. Also, Polo’s use of its expertise and tradition to promote the sport of polo in Nigeria.

This resulted to Polo Limited being selected as the official time keeper for Lagos Polo Club, one of the renowned Polo club’s in Africa.

Mr. John Obayuwana

FOUNDER/MANAGING DIRECTOR

John Obayuwana is Founder and Managing Director of Polo Luxury Group (PLG). Polo Luxury Group is the holding company of West Africa’s leading luxury goods companies: Polo Limited and Polo Avenue.

Polo Limited is the foremost luxury goods company in Nigeria, specializing in luxury timepieces, writing instruments, and accessories. Polo Avenue is a multi-brand specialty retailer that focuses on luxury leather goods, fashion accessories, shoes and fragrances. PLG is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.

Obayuwana founded Polo in 1991 out of the desire to spread beauty and nobility by creating a company that enriches people’s lives with products of the finest quality and craftsmanship. With Obayuwana’s dedication to his life’s vision, Polo has grown over the years into an enterprise offering a diverse portfolio of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands, such as Rolex, Cartier, Chopard, Hublot, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. He has played a momentous role in defining and shaping the landscape of the luxury industry in Nigeria.

As an astute businessman, Obayuwana has successfully launched several efficacious ventures in other industries and sectors. He is the Chairman of CAT Construction Group Limited, CAT Development Consultants Limited, CAT Engineering Company Limited and CAT Oil & Energy Limited.

In addition to his many professional accomplishments, he is involved with several initiatives and charitable organizations focused on impacting the sustainable social, political, and economic development of Nigeria. He is a member of the Think Tank Group, an organization that focuses on the advocacy of issues pertaining to economic development and paving the way for future generations. The group consists of business leaders, political figures and other influential people in Nigeria. He has previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of PPMC, a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Obayuwana is known for his many philanthropic works in Nigeria. He has been involved in several fundraising initiatives geared towards addressing societal issues, such as the awarding of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) award for chairing a fundraiser for the 50th Anniversary of Birch Freeman High School in Lagos with the Governor of Lagos State. The proceeds from the event were used to build a multipurpose assembly hall for the school. He has received many awards and nominations for his continuous contribution to the social, economic and political prosperity of Nigeria.

Ms. Jennifer Obayuwana

Executive Director

Jennifer Obayuwana is the Executive Director of Polo Luxury Group, Nigeria’s leading luxury goods company. Polo is Nigeria’s only official retailer of the world’s most prestigious watches, writing instruments and high-end accessories. The company is headquartered in Lagos, with four boutiques in both Nigeria and Ghana.

As the Executive Director of Polo, Ms. Obayuwana has played a significant role in the proliferation of international luxury brands in Nigeria. Under her direction, Polo has grown, offering a diverse portfolio of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands such as Rolex, Cartier, Chopard and Hublot.

Ms. Obayuwana’s experience in building and maintaining luxury brand prestige also led to the creation of Polo’s new subsidiary, Polo Avenue. Polo Avenue is a multi-brand luxury specialty retailer that focuses on fashion, leather goods, footwear and fragrances, with strategic partners including: Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nancy Gonzales and Versace.

As the daughter of a pioneer in the luxury industry, it was inevitable that Ms. Obayuwana’s unwavering passion for luxury and beauty would lead to her into the family business. She graduated from The American University of Paris with a bachelor’s degree in International Business, and obtained a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from Franklin University in Switzerland. She has also taken several management courses at INSEAD, Columbia Business School, Lagos Business School and the Gemological Institute of America.

Using the Polo Foundation as a vehicle, she is involved in several initiatives and charitable organizations focused on the empowerment of women and socio-economic issues affecting women in Nigeria.
